APRA PROJECTS :

We're a community of people who share a passion for upliftment and community cohesion. We are actively involved in 20+ Projects (most listed above) that seek to make APark a better place for all. We strive to make our efforts as tangible as possible for all.  

Some of our Projects include :

1- Maintaining and regularly improving the Henley Rd, Sentech Tower Surrounding Greenspaces and the Steps that run between Auckland Park and Brixton. From the northernmost greenspace corner at Kingston Ave, past Finsbury, Molesey, Beverley and over Symons Rd all the way up to the Tower & Memorial Sites.  

2- Collaborating with The ARO  which aids and works closely with reclaimers in residential areas and landfills. They sort, collect and sell recyclable materials.
They collect in our area every Tuesday.  We create awareness of their initiative and encourage the community to participate. 

3- The purchase & installation of new, well-built, matching, APRA-Collab-Branded, Security-Guard-Huts. This initiative is to increase the security in the community and aid the street guards. This will also remove a community “net-negative” and simultaneously add a “net-positive” to each street and to the collective as they will fit together strongly signaling to all a more integrated and robust security-commitment in the suburb.

4- Collaborating with SAPS and Station Commander Col Sibitane to fully reopen the Satellite Station which is situated on 1st Ave in Auckland Park and bordering Melville. 

5- Report and escalate problems in the areas such as leaking pipes, missing manhole lids, damaged signage, power outages and more to Cllr Steer who helps in ensuring efficient and proactive service delivery and infrastructure needs to the community.  

6- Work closely with U-turn homeless ministries to minimize homelessness in the area and encourage those on the street to use their services and get into their program.

7- Our Urban Management Team is doing weekly Urban Upliftment and consists of cleaning, clearing, reporting, and re-instating problematic areas within the community.  

8-  Traffic Calming Project entails communication with the JRA to identify high vehicle and pedestrian traffic areas as well includes different improvement and upgrade strategies to make these areas less dangerous. to the safety of this most dangerous corridor.  These areas include  Brixton's Caroline- Collins- Fulham Streets, Beverly and Symons/Henley road, Auckland Park South ( Chislehurst, Cookham, Ditton, Twickenham and Richmod) and Auckland Park North (Streatley, Windsor, Goring and Auckland Aves).
